EU/MEeting on Design and Analysis of Metaheuristics
March 17-18, 2016 – Antwerp, Belgium
The Antwerp Operations Research Group ANT/OR is looking forward to welcome you at the 17th EU/ME workshop on “Design and Analysis of Metaheuristics”. The conference will be held on March 17th – 18th, 2016 in Antwerp (Belgium). This vivid city is located on the banks of the River Scheldt, and home to one of the largest seaports in the world. The name Antwerp is synonymous with diamonds, culture, art, Rubens and fashion. And let’s not forget the chocolate, pastries and beer!

Metaheuristics are among the most prominent and successful techniques to solve a large amount of complex and computationally hard combinatorial and numerical optimization problems arising in human activities, such as economics, industry, or engineering. Metaheuristics can be seen as general algorithmic frameworks that require a relatively small number of modifications to be adapted to tackle a specific problem. They constitute a highly diverse family of optimization algorithms, that all have their individual properties, strengths and issues.
- What is a good metaheuristic design?
- Which metaheuristic framework to use?
- How to make the developed solution approach robust, reliable and efficient?
- What with parameters in the model and how to tune them?
The main objective of this workshop is to share the insights with respect to these questions among researchers from different fields, and exchange best practices in the design and analysis of metaheuristics.
Because “in our experience, there is no such thing as luck”. (Obi-Wan Kenobi).
Hope to see you all in Antwerp!
